Our Product Information

The descriptions provided for the products are usually taken from the ingredient label section of the packaging, otherwise it is provided by FoodTech Bridge.

We have not included the number of units contained in food packages, for example, 12 pies, as this information does change from time to time, so it’s best to check the manufacturer’s website for more up to date information.

As this information does change from time to time, we have not included it on the website. Please consult the manufacturers or retailer’s website for further information. We further do not provide dietary advice or guidance on the products featured on our website.

We have used the product package to obtain this information. In most instances, we have tried to include most of the product claims and marketing USP’s as it appears on the packaging. Please note that sometimes, claims which may appear on the manufacturer’s website do not always appear on the packaging and this could occur for several reasons.

B2B Note: Please be aware that certain nutritional claims are country and / or product category specific, so it is always important to check with local legislation if you are looking to make any claims on your food package. Please do not use the claims that appear on the respective displayed packages as a guide to developing your own label.

If a product label displays this information, it is usually included as such. If no information appears on the label and cannot be deciphered, then we have included the description “information does not appear on packaging”. If a product is manufactured or packed in the United Kingdom, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland, then we have used the collective origin as ‘United Kingdom’.

Manufacturers may change, add, replace, or remove ingredients from their products at certain times and this may not be reflected on the package we have used to record the information that appears on our website, which is deemed to be correct at the time of publishing.

As this information does change from time to time, we have not highlighted any allergens that may be present, either directly or indirectly, in the ingredients as per the information obtained from the packaging.

We do not provide dietary advice on allergens, their consumption or any guidance pertaining to the labelling of food packages. Always check the product label as well as the website of the manufacturer or retailer for up-to-date information on the product and allergens

Sometimes, smaller food manufacturers do not have websites, so we were not able to include this information. Sometimes we have deliberately excluded certain website links because at the time of publishing this information, the respective website link seemed to be unsafe to include.

The information we have provided in the serving suggestion is recorded from the product package or may be sourced from the website of the manufacturer or retailer.
Sometimes, we have taken the initiative to include our own expression or serving suggestion. In this instance, if we have made suggestions to pair certain products together from different brands, then this does not imply that the manufacturers of the respective products are in a partnership or are marketing the products jointly.

Food manufacturers and marketers may opt to refresh their current packaging at certain intervals. Because of this, it’s not always possible for us to guarantee that we will always showcase their latest packaging.

Our featured products

Sometimes the product we feature on our website does not appear on the manufacturer’s site for reasons relating to perhaps geographical location or marketing, and distribution rights. During other times, we believe that the manufacturer may have multiple websites which are country specific, so depending on your geographical location, you may access a different website which may or may not feature a particular product.

Products may be discontinued by manufacturers, retailers and distributors or be in short supply or essentially not available to purchase in certain geographical areas.

Our product photography & displays

Some frozen foods have been photographed in their slightly thawed state so that the contents may be more visible. Most other foods and beverages are usually photographed at the storage temperature suggested on the package.

In our displays we have used flowers, crystals, stray bark, and leaves. We certainly do not imply, suggest, or advise that food or beverages should be served on stray bark or that inedible flowers be placed alongside food and beverages. Many of these substrates may be dangerous, presenting food safety hazards and are in most cases poisonous and detrimental to human and animal pet health. Please DO NOT serve foods on stray bark or eat inedible flowers, inedible berries, stones, crystals, and other inedible components as it is likely to lead to choking and death.

Sometimes the cross-sectional photographic presentation of a product does not look as great as it appears on the packaging, even though all necessary steps are taken to ensure that during the cutting process, a good representational view is obtained. We trust that you will appreciate that we do not tweak our images to look extra good and refined. We share what we see with you first-hand and on first take.

Using the website

When logged into your account and on the Confectionary & Snacks page, you’ll see a submenu to the left of the page with more refined filtering options. You can tick any of the subcategory options in confectionary or snacks to narrow down the types of products you are viewing further.

If an ingredient does not appear in the ingredient carousel, which appears below each featured product, then please browse the Ingredient Directory. We currently feature over 500 ingredients found in packaged foods & beverages and we aim to grow this number with new monthly additions.

Our terminology

We have decided to use the terms vegetarian friendly, vegetarian suitable, suitable for vegetarians and vegetarian interchangeably. For purposes of editing and the recording of information on our website, we have only included the word vegetarian as a claim even though it may appear as any one of the options above.

We have decided to use the terms vegan friendly, vegan suitable, suitable for vegans and vegan interchangeably. For purposes of editing and the recording of information on our website, we have only included the word vegan as a claim even though it may appear as any one of the options above.

For purposes of avoiding confusion, we have opted to classify peanuts as nuts and not as legumes which is actually the correct botanical classification.

Cooking & storage guidelines

The cooking temperatures, time parameters and overall preparation notes must be regarded as general reference points, with all timings being approximate. ‘Preheated oven’ implies that the oven has been heated to a temperature between 160-200 degrees Celsius. The cooking times provided should be considered as an approximate guide and, in most cases, applies to the chilled state of the food. Frozen food will require a longer cooking time.

The storage conditions recorded on our website apply to unopened packages. In most instances, once packaged foods are opened, they are required to be refrigerated.
