Japanese cuisine

 2 minutes read

Whether you are heading to the kitchen or need a little help to innovate for product development, here’s some info on Japanese cuisine…

Japanese inspired cuisine bars, supplying ready-to-eat packaged sushi, sashimi, seaweed salads and desserts can be found within most British supermarkets these days. Sushi chefs hand prepare these convenient ready-to-eat products in front of the consumer daily and may even offer minimum customisation of some products where possible.

Queues are often visible around popular Ramen bars in London throughout the year, as well as Wagamama – the high street chain of Japanese inspired restaurants in the UK, who also serve the ever-popular Yaki Soba as well as other dishes including Ramen, Donburi, Teppanyaki & Japanese inspired Curry.

When the vegan craze graced the shores of the UK in 2019, Wagamama offered an innovative vegan-style egg, made from pannacotta which formed the albumin. Balls of perfectly yellow coloured Sriracha vegan mayo were filled into the centre cavity of each halve, creating the appearance of a perfectly half boiled egg. The flavour of Wagamama’s vegan egg was unique, with notes of coconut, lemongrass, and of course Sriracha.
